Lorne Honickman – Senior Counsel

Lorne is one of Canada’s top legal experts in Defamation Law. He has been included and listed in The 2026 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. Lorne is consulted regularly by clients who have been defamed, and those who are accused of defaming others. Whether its to have defamatory information removed from social media and other internet sites, bringing claims,  or defending those facing defamation lawsuits, Lorne is there helping client  navigate through the complicated and complex world of libel law. Given his background, experience, and extensive knowledge in the area, Lorne is ideally placed to provide mediation services to parties embroiled in defamation disputes, and help them reach a proper and just settlement.

In addition to defamation law, Lorne’s civil litigation practice is wide ranging and covers many areas. He has an extensive background in administrative law, and  acts for  health care professionals, and other professionals,  who are facing Regulatory College investigations and disciplinary proceedings.

Lorne received his Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto in 1977 and his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1995. Prior to practising law on a full time basis, Lorne was the legal specialist for City TV in Toronto for more than 20 years. With thousands of stories filed, he was considered one of Canada’s most experienced broadcast journalists. For more than 10 years, he appeared on a weekly talk show he hosted called Legal Briefs which was broadcast across Canada on Cable Pulse 24 and Court TV Canada. Lorne’s extensive experience in both the media and the law allow him to work with clients to create and manage their crisis communication strategies.
